I Basically Ate Nothing But New Groceries This Month — These Are the 8 I Can’t Wait to Buy Again

Take a quick stroll through a grocery store. You may see one or two new items on shelves, but there are actually dozens and dozens of new groceries released all of the time. As a groceries editor, it’s my job to stay up-to-date on changes in the grocery industry, and that extends to the latest and greatest grocery launches each month.

Last month’s newcomers leaned heavily into warm spices and cozy meals to welcome fall. Now in October we’re seeing lots of new snacks, frozen foods, and condiments to make mealtimes easier and, well, tastier. I spent the past few weeks eating these new releases (almost) exclusively, and I can happily report that they’re really good

After a month of sampling, I’ve narrowed dozens of autumn-inspired items down to eight that I can’t wait to buy again.

1. Club Minis Cinnamon Sugar

You may have read about these earlier this month. The Club Minis Cinnamon Sugar are so good, they deserve a second shout-out. Not only are they a miniature version of the O.G. Club Crackers, but they’re also coated in a lightly sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture that just makes them so darn tasty. Oh, and don’t worry — they still have that iconic buttery taste that makes the classic ones. Grab a box before they disappear; this limited-edition cracker is only available through the holidays.

2. Algae Cooking Club Shiitake Mushroom Oil

Algae Cooking Club, the plant-based (and earth-friendly) cooking oil, has just launched a Shiitake Mushroom Oil that’s really, really great. Mushrooms are known for their deep umami flavor, and Algae Cooking Club concentrates that (with the help of some miso) to make an all-star seasoning oil that quadruples the flavor of soups, stews, and vegetables. I’m already a fan of the original cooking oil, so this launch is a much-awaited release (at least for me). The brand has also released a Gochugaru version for those seeking a spicy kick.

3. Stoked Oats Oat Rice

I was skeptical about Stoked Oats Oat Rice because I’m a devout Jasmine rice eater, but I’m down to give anything a try at least once. The brand’s oat rice is made with hulled pure oat groats and claims to be “better for the environment, 2x higher in protein, and 5x higher in fiber compared to white rice, and is packed with essential vitamins and minerals.” It’s advertised to be eaten (and cooked) as you would rice, so I did just that. I cooked a portion to eat with some heated-up leftover massaman curry, and it was actually pretty fantastic! It wasn’t as fluffy as freshly steamed rice and had a texture closer to farro, but I’m excited to keep eating it (I want to add it to salads next!).

4. Daiya Meatless Meat Lovers Pizza

I was a vegan throughout my teens, and even though I don’t eat strictly plant-based anymore I still have a deep appreciation for new innovations in the space. Daiya, a leader in the plant-based grocery space, recently reformulated its pizzas with a new cheese and gluten-free base, so I was particularly psyched to try them.

The reformulation was such a smart idea! The cheese gets super melty and gooey (much akin to melty mozzarella) and the toppings — crunchy garlic, chili crisp, finishing oils — are just supreme. I’ll absolutely be keeping a pie or two in my freezer for busy weeknights.

Buy: Daiya Meatless Meat Lovers Pizza, $8.99 for 19 ounces at Instacart

5. Goodpop Strawberry Shortcake

I enjoy Popsicles and other frozen treats year-round (even when it’s snowing out!). One of my all-time favorite flavors and fruits is strawberry, and as an already-fan of Goodpop, I was particularly excited to get my hands on this latest launch. These Popsicles are gluten- and dairy-free and totally delicious.

Despite not containing dairy, they’re still incredibly creamy (thanks to a hefty dose of coconut cream) and slightly sweet from real strawberry purée. I finished off the last bar the other night and am already planning my next trip to the store to grab a few more.

6. Impossible Corn Dogs

Corn dogs were one of my favorite childhood foods. I’d eat them after school, for dinner, and sometimes even for breakfast (when my mom wasn’t looking). I don’t eat them much anymore, but Impossible’s latest corn dog launch is going to change that entirely. The brand already makes excellent plant-based hot dogs that I especially love during the summer, but this recent launch feels ground-breaking to me.

Let me tell you: These corn dogs bring back ALL of the memories. The hot dog within has a strong beefy flavor (despite containing none) and is nestled in a slightly sweetened cornbread.

7. Maya Kaimal Chili Crisp

We’ve seen chili crisp popping up on more and more shelves across the country over the past few years, but Maya Kaimal Chili Crisp is the first Indian-style chili crisp that I’ve seen at a major retailer. Made with a mixture of tarka oil, shallots, garlic, chilies, turmeric, curry leaves, and an array of other warm spices, this chili crisp is deep in flavor (and texture!). This release is the type of culture exchange that gets me excited!

I’ve been spooning it on almost everything — soups, stews, rice — and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. It’s currently exclusively sold at Whole Foods, and will be expanding to more retailers in 2025.

8. Pitaya Foods Passion Fruit and Peach Smoothie Pops

Each morning that I’ve started with one of these newly released Pitaya Foods Passion Fruit and Peach Smoothie Pops Popsicles has been a great day, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence. These fruit pops are shaped like little freezies that I remember from my childhood (so nostalgic!) and are made with passion fruit, peach, and other fruit purées — and I can’t get enough of them.

The brand also just released Dragon Fruit and Mango, Acai Blueberry, and Kiwi and Pineapple (which are all great). My favorite, in case it wasn’t obvious, is the Passion Fruit and Peach; it reminds me of the best of summer.
