Coyotes' new makeshift home rink named Mullett Arena
It's looking like it'll be a ‘business in the front, party in the back’ kind of year for the Arizona Coyotes.
Arizona State University announced on Tuesday that its new multi-purpose facility that will temporarily host the Coyotes will be called Mullett Arena.

Vice president of ASU athletics Ray Anderson explained that the brand-new arena in Tempe, Arizona is named in recognition of Donald and Barbara Mullett, who helped the hockey team reach Division I status in 2014 and have been advocates for the growth of hockey in the state.
On social media, fans were quick to react to the name of the home rink that will temporarily host the Coyotes. Some seemed to love the idea and proclaimed it the best named arena in the league, while others chalked it up as yet another reason to make fun of the much-maligned franchise.
The Coyotes may have the smallest arena, but they have hands down the coolest arena name!

From 2003 to 2022, the Coyotes played their home games at Gila River Arena in Glendale. Before the move to Glendale, the club operated out of Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix from 1996 to 2003.
The Coyotes are set to play their first game at Mullett Arena on October 28 when they host the Winnipeg Jets. The Arizona State Sun Devils men’s hockey team will play its first home game of the 2022–23 season against the Colgate Raiders on October 14.
Mullett Arena is a 5,000-seat building that still remains under construction. It is set to include two NHL regulation-size ice sheets, 20 luxury suites, a large club lounge and event-level premium club seats. It will also offer a 942-seat student section and over 8,000 square feet set aside for ASU’s locker room, weight room, lounge and coaches’ offices.
The Coyotes’ temporary home will be both the National Hockey League’s newest and smallest arena. But also the one with the most unique name.
