The Bears would be on top of every other NFC division

Last week was another reminder that the Chicago Bears have their work cut out for them in the NFC North division. That was the prevailing thought coming into the year, but nobody was predicting that all four teams would be as good as they have been.

After six weeks of games, it is clear that this is the best division in the NFL. The 5-0 Minnesota Vikings have been one of the best teams in the league up to this point as they get back to action following their bye week, while the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers dominated their opponents in Week 6. The Lions (4-1) defeated the Cowboys 47-9, and the Packers (4-2) clipped the Cardinals 34-13.

As you know, the Chicago Bears also improved to 4-2 with their dominating 35-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. That means every team in the NFC North is two games over .500 or better. As a group, they are a combined 17-5, which is an incredible mark after six weeks. If the season ended today, they could all be in the playoffs, depending on tiebreakers. At the very least, all four of them would be leading every division in the NFC.

This isn't totally uncommon, as we’ve seen stacked divisions before. For much of last year, the AFC North had four playoff-caliber teams until the Cincinnati Bengals suffered too many injuries. This year's NFC North, however, has been even more special so far.

Could all four teams make the playoffs? In theory, yes. They would need to continue winning their non-divisional games and split all of the inter-division games equally. That would be a historical feat for the NFL, seeing as it's never happened before.

Right now, the Bears can only take it one week at a time. With this weekend off to rest and get healthy, they're back at it next week for a huge matchup against the Washington Commanders.
