It's not often that the NFL clears the decks for a nationally televised game on a Sunday afternoon. It's also not often that we get an early-season Super Bowl rematch between two teams that still have their eyes on getting back to February football.
The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers have had very different starts to the season. Patrick Mahomes' numbers have been down from some of his splashier statistical years, but the Chiefs keep winning close games. They're 5-0, coming off an early bye, and four of their five wins have come by just one score. The 49ers, on the other hand, have a dominant offense despite injuries to key pieces — second in the league in passing yards and third in rushing yards — but have blown a couple of double-digit, second-half leads on their way to a 3-3 mark after six weeks.
While there are two games (Raiders at Rams, Panthers at Commanders) on CBS in the 4 p.m. ET window, the national audience will see Kansas City at San Francisco at 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox.

The Chiefs are up 14-3 and look like they're clicking on all cylinders. The Chiefs have 157 yards to the 49ers 36 yards and K.C. is 4-for-6 on 3rd down, while the 49ers are 0-for-4.
The seven play, 70-yard drive — which included a single-wing play, with both Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz on the field together — is capped off with Hunt's short TD run.
Wentz lines up with Mahomes in the backfield! @Chiefs getting tricky.
The first quarter in Chiefs-49ers has been a defensive slugfest
Both teams have an interception, and Patrick Mahomes has already been sacked twice. Also, the Chiefs were stuffed on a fake punt on a 4th-and-1. Still no score with two minutes left in the opening quarter.
The @49ers defense gets to Mahomes again for the sack!
After a punt to flip the field, K.C. is on the move
Mahomes to Mecole Hardman on a 3rd-and-6 to pick pick up the first first down of the game. Mahomes is 4-0 in his career against the 49ers, and has beaten them twice in the Super Bowl.

Underway in San Fran, and the 49ers got the ball first
After a penalty on the first drive, the 49ers were forced into a quick punt after a 3-and-out. Deebo Samuel, per the Fox broadcast, is dealing with an illness, but will play today.
In an ideal world San Francisco wouldn't have let Seattle back in the game, it would be undefeated and be the talk of the NFL. This start hasn't been ideal but the 49ers are still pretty good.
