Ferrari pulled the covers off its latest hypercar, the Ferrari F80, this past Thursday. The F80 leverages the Italian brand’s racing pedigree at Le Mans and in Formula 1 to put cutting-edge performance in the hands of a privileged few. While the $4 million sticker price is eye-watering, the F80 doesn’t qualify for superlatives in any particular metric. The main selling point is the badge and the passion associated with it. Ferrari plans on only producing 799 F80s.

Abbott bumps up profit forecast on strong medical device sales
(Reuters) -Abbott Laboratories slightly lifted its annual profit forecast on Wednesday, after beating Wall Street estimates for quarterly earnings on strong demand for its continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and other medical devices. Increasing diabetes care awareness, wider insurance coverage and preference for devices that do not need finger pricks have benefited CGMs such as Abbott's popular FreeStyle Libre. Overall, Abbott recorded $10.64 billion in sales, compared with estimates of $10.55 billion.

Two German men died when their World War II-era airplane crashed and caught fire in southern Finland minutes after takeoff, police said Thursday. The single-engine, two-seater T-6 Texan plane -- a popular American military trainer aircraft introduced in the 1930s and now used mainly in air shows -- crashed into a forest near the Rayskala aviation airfield on Wednesday, killing the “two experienced pilots,” police said. “The small plane fell to the ground shortly after takeoff and caught fire,” police said in a statement.
