More Affordable Chevy Silverado EVs Are on the WayChevrolet
  • 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV will be offered in several trims and battery options, with the LT variant generating 645 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque, representing a step down in power from the Silverado EV RST launch edition.

  • In LT trim, the Silverado EV will start at $75,195 (including $2,095 destination charges) while offering 408 miles of range.

  • The most affordable version of the Silverado EV will be the Standard Range in WT trim with a $57,095 starting price, but the EPA range is to be determined.

By now EV shoppers are used to seeing the most expensive versions of any given model arrive on sale first.

And this held true for the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST when it went on sale earlier this year with a price tag of $96,395, featuring 440 miles of range thanks to its massive 205-kWh battery pack, while sending 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels.

Still, the Silverado EV First Edition RST was a bit of a bargain compared to its GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 sibling, which sat just over the $100,000 mark.

But now more affordable Silverado EVs are on the way for the 2025 model year, with the automaker revealing details of more attainable trim levels that will actually keep some distance from the six-figure barrier—and will also get some help from the revamped $7,500 tax credit.

"Truck customers tell us range is one of the main barriers to considering an EV. The 2024 Silverado EV already was the range leader, and for this new model year we've set the bar even higher," said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet.

"A second barrier to entry is price, so we are fortifying the Silverado EV lineup by providing more choice."

The Silverado LT will still be a dual-motor model with a starting price of $75,195 including $2,095 destination, but Chevy has dialed down its output to a more manageable 645 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque in Wide Open Watts mode, while offering a slightly more modest range of 408 miles with 18-inch wheels standard.

Later in 2025, Chevy plans to introduce a Premium Package to the LT trim that will add a Multi-Flex Midgate, GM's SuperCruise hands-free driving system, and 22-inch wheels. But one tradeoff will be a shorter, 390-mile range, thanks to the larger wheels, adding a bit of a premium with an $81,995 starting price.

And that's another EV hallmark that's familiar to shoppers by now: Larger wheels often result in shorter ranges. But there will be another, even more affordable trim level below LT.

The Work Truck trim will serve up a choice of three batteries, with the largest promising 492 miles when optioned with the Max Range pack.

This version will set buyers back $77,795, which is a bit of a bargain for something that will brush close to the 500-mile mark, while the Extended Range version with 422 miles of range will require $69,495 to purchase.

The third WT trim, known as the Standard Range version, will be the most affordable in the lineup, starting at $57,095. Its EPA range has not been confirmed yet, but it should still land well north of the 300-mile mark.

The $57,095 starting point will be tempting for private EV shoppers in this day and age, we suspect, but it remains to be seen whether this will end up being the volume model for the entire platform, which now extends also to GMC and Hummer.
