A car fire is always a sad sight, but the case of a blaze that consumed a Lamborghini Revuelto in New York City over the past weekend was doubly sad — as the brand-new Italian supercar was apparently just delivered to its owner less than a week before was lost in the fire.

The car's owner, Ethan Duran, also owns Corsa Auto Group, an exotic car rental company with locations in New York, Miami, Boston and Los Angeles. It's unclear clear if his new Revuelto was destined for his rental fleet, or if it was a personal purchase; either way, the car won’t be used for much of anything now.

Duran posted on his Instagram page on October 14 a series of images and a video about his black Lamborghini Revuelto, in which he revealed that he ordered the car on September 21, 2023. The October 14 post shows him signing the paperwork for the car and taking delivery.

On October 20, just six days after the delivery video, Duran uploads another video to his Instagram page. This one is far less positive. It shows his brand new Revuelto completely engulfed in flames by the side of the road. Duran writes in the post: “Well… It Was Fun While It Lasted.”

Duran can be heard saying "This is insane" while the Lamborghini burns, and the sounds of sirens are audible in the background, and Duran saying, “This is insane.” As the fire continues, a series of small explosions kick off, at which point Duran steps further back from the burning car.

The Revuelto has a 6.5-liter V12 engine enhanced with three electric motors, to provide a total output of 1,001 horsepower. As of this story, the official cause of the fire has not been confirmed; we don’t know if the electric motors, batteries or a fuel leak contributed in any way to the fire breaking out. We do know, however, that the world is minus one Lamborghini Revuelto.
