Sometimes people run from police because they just don’t know when to give up, like this guy in a bare chassis truck who takes Florida Highway Patrol on a wild ride. Even after a trooper takes him down once, the determined fugitive keeps on going in a futile effort to avoid facing consequences for this and previous actions.

This Jeep Wrangler police chase goes downhill in a hurry.

You can tell this isn’t the suspect driver’s first time fleeing the law. He handles the big truck like a pro, staying loose as he floats among the different lanes, not even hesitating to use the shoulder when he feels it’s necessary.

The guy even knows how to feint taking an exit, cutting across the gore point at the last second, speeding in front of a semi-truck to try losing the trooper.

Unfortunately for the suspect, FHP trains its troopers well, and this one handles all those tricks in stride. We’re betting in the past this guy has run from municipal cops or maybe deputies, so he probably doesn’t understand just what he’s gotten himself into.

What this guy might lack in skill he makes up for in sheer determination and maybe a degree of stupidity. After taking an exit, the suspect crosses on the overpass, then tries getting back on the highway going in the opposite direction.

Making a big left turn like the with a cop behind you is a dumb move. The trooper PITs the truck hard, spinning it like a top until it’s off on the shoulder of the on-ramp, the rear tires spinning uselessly in the soft dirt.

Even as troopers and deputies pull up and draw their weapons, this guy starts rocking the truck back and forth until he gets it unstuck and keeps running. He might not be the brightest criminal, but he has grit when it comes to doing the wrong thing.

Some people feel FHP and the sheriff’s office should’ve pinned the truck in using their cruisers. Perhaps everyone involved realized that after the fact, because they don’t give him another chance to run like that.

Funny enough, after the last time he exited the highway he got spun out, the guy gets off the highway again. We guess he thinks getting pitted out was a fluke.

What he doesn’t know is a helicopter is up above directing troopers so they can corner the truck and end the chase. The guy avoids another spike strip, but he gets pitted out by the lead trooper again, ending up nose-to-nose with the FHP cruiser.

Then he’s swarmed by cruisers pinning him as he tries pushing one out of the way but can’t, the chase finally ending for real. Seeing the driver and his girlfriend in the backseat of a cruiser, it’s obvious FHP wasn’t chasing a criminal mastermind, just a guy who doesn’t give up even when he’s lost already.
