Jamie Chadwick says she has her sights set on a ride in the NTT IndyCar Series for the 2025 season.

“It was really cool, as an opportunity goes, pretty surreal,” she told Autoweek. “The actual test itself went pretty well. The step [from Indy NXT] wasn’t crazy so it felt quite manageable in many ways, which was a refreshing feeling. It felt a very natural progression from the Indy NXT car, same time it’s very physical so that’s something I expected.

“It was so important to do the test because I was either going to come out of that an go ‘ooh that’s maybe going to be too difficult’ or that’s going to take a while, or I can get to that, and I think I can get to that, but it’ll take a huge step—which is one I’m confident I can get to, I’ll need the team to come halfway to that, Barber is probably a worst case scenario, lots of compression and areas that take the most out of the body, so it’s good to know that might be a worst case scenario.”

Chadwick conceded that for 2025 “there’s a few things that need to fall into place” but that “the focus is to go to IndyCar; whether that be a part-time program, it’s still a bit up in the air.

“What the test has given me is clarity on that’s the next step I want to do and that’s what I’m aiming for.”

Chadwick praised Andretti for their faith in her in the wake of a challenging first year competing in the United States.

“I had a tough first year in Indy NXT, got the opportunity to do the second year, if I had a tough second year it [IndyCar] definitely would not be an option,” she said. “But given the progress and the success, it felt, yes, IndyCar is definitely the goal, but this year given the test as well it’s made it’s clear that’s the next step.

“The step from W Series to Indy NXT was big, and it did take me [time] to adapt for that, physically I wasn’t quite prepared enough, we made some changes with the car to help with that, and going to the same tracks a second year helped.

“The support from Andretti after the first year was so significant, they didn’t give up on me. We identified the areas to work on, focused on those, and that gave us such a big opportunity.”

Chadwick has been affiliated with Williams’ Formula 1 team since 2019 and part of her role currently includes providing support to Williams’ F1 Academy representative Lia Block.

American Block, 18, is eighth in this year’s standings.

“It’s been really impressive to see Lia’s growth, it’s a big transition for her from off-road racing,” Chadwick says. “It’s cool to see it, and she’s a sponge in that sense, happy to take it all onboard, and hopefully we can continue that and evolve it.
