“This is not a personality contest; it’s about patriotism,” he said.
“Trump’s love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear.”
Nicklaus said Trump has already delivered on his promises, though neglected to specify which victories Trump has achieved since moving into the White House.
He also claimed that electing Trump is key to avoiding “a socialist America and have the government run your life.”
Nicklaus acknowledged Trump has his shortcomings, but urged Americans to “look past that and focus on what he’s tried to accomplish.”
The 80-year-old, who recovered from coronavirus in March, said his grandfathers loved living in a country where the American dream was attainable, saying he fears the US could turn into a socialist nation.
President Trump replied to Nicklaus’ tweet, writing: “Jack, this is a Great Honour. Thank you!”
While Trump’s son Eric commented: “Winners surround themselves with winners! Jack Nicklaus is the greatest of all time.”

Jack Nicklaus’ continued support for Donald Trump
Nicklaus’ support for Trump is nothing new.
The man known as ‘The Golden Bear’ supported Trump in the 2016 election and has spoken glowingly of his administration since
Nicklaus even praised the president’s golf game, comparing it to his.
“Trump plays pretty well. He plays a little bit like I do,” Nicklaus said.
“He doesn’t really ever finish many holes. But he can hit the ball, and he goes out and plays and just enjoys it.
“But he’s won several club championships. He can play.”
The pair have a business relationship through the world of golf, such as Nicklaus designing a Trump-owned course and having a villa named after him.
Trump’s administration has also earmarked $20 million for a mobile children’s hospital project backed by Nicklaus.
Nicklaus isn’t the first golfing icon to express their support for Trump, with Aussie legend Greg Norman also endorsing the president last week.
