UFC star Max Holloway was coming off two hard-fought losses, but showed his superstar status with an unbelievable moment during his bloody victory over Calvin Kattar.

There was lots of talk prior to the fight about Holloway’s back-to-back losses to Aussie featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski or the three losses in his last four fights.

There was also plenty of chatter that this was Kattar’s moment, that he was ready to rise and stake his claim to a title shot.

But Holloway showed why he will be ready to challenge Volkanovski again for the belt after a striking masterclass that left Kattar bloodied and bruised.

Holloway came away with a 50-43, 50-43, 50-42 victory after dropping Kattar in the second and pulverising his opponent in the final two rounds.

However, it was one bizarre moment during the fight that had the UFC community in raptures.

After backing up Kattar and landing a solid body shot in the fifth round, Holloway turned to the commentators.

“I’m the best boxer in the UFC, baby,” Holloway said as he pointed to the ringside commentators.

What made it more incredible was Holloway’s ability to take and evade shots from Kattar while he was talking trash.

UFC fighters and fans rightfully went ballistic over the crazy fight.

Holloway breaks UFC records

The former champion’s performance was record-breaking.

Holloway’s 445 significant strikes set a new UFC record, obliterating the old mark of 290.

He set a record for significant strikes thrown with 744 to break the previous record of 515.

He landed 439 distance strikes, breaking the mark of 281 and he landed 274 head strikes, surpassing the ex-record of 244.
