Sonny Bill Williams given green light for Mike Tyson fight

Sonny Bill Williams has been given permission from the Toronto Wolfpack to seek a fight with Mike Tyson after the 53 year old announced he planned to make a comeback to the ring.

The former heavyweight champion sent fans into a frenzy after revealing a video of his sheer power and aggression hitting the pads and his incredible body transformation.

Since announcing his planned return, the former ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ had a host of options to choose from for a return bout including All Blacks legend Sonny Bill Williams, NRL great Paul Gallen and AFL great Barry Hall.

And now, Williams has reportedly been granted the all clear to pursue a fight with ‘Iron Mike’.

Wolfpack coach Brian McDermott is a former Royal Marine boxing champion and according to The Sun, Williams is allowed to fight in the off-season.

But there has been no word from Williams himself to whether he wants to step foot in the ring with the former champ.

Fenech warns footy players off Tyson fight

Despite all the hype, Aussie boxing legend Jeff Fenech says Tyson would ‘kill’ any one of the three footballers being touted for a fight against the former heavyweight champion.

However Fenech - who used to train Tyson in his heyday - has offered a dire warning to the footy greats.

“Let me tell you something. If he hits Sonny Bill Williams or Paul Gallen, he will be up for manslaughter,” Fenech told the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday.

“I’m serious. If he punched Paul Gallen, he could kill him. These guys have never been punched by somebody like Mike.

“You see what he’s doing to the pads, imagine Mike hitting one of those guys with one of those uppercuts. More than likely they will be in the morgue the next day.”
