'Being a d**k': Paige Spiranac blasts golf hulk for showing 'true colours'

Instagram golfing sensation Paige Spiranac has blasted star Bryson DeChambeau after the hulking golfer was captured in a meltdown at the Memorial Tournament.

Spriranac, who has amassed more than 2.7 million followers, isn’t afraid to speak her mind and has now taken aim at one of golf’s new sensations.

A day after Dechambeau stunned the golfing world with an eye-catching 423-yard (387 metre) monster drive, the American was left cursing his misfortune at the tournament in Ohio.

The hulking American, who has turned heads with a super-sized body and swing since the return from the coronavirus pandemic, was involved in a heated discussion with officials and labelled one ruling ‘garbage’.

DeChambeau also blew up at cameraman at the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier in July.

Following his sporadic outbursts, Spiranac has taken aim at one of golf’s most in-form players.

“I used to be a big Bryson fan. I was all in on Bryson … I thought he was doing things that were different, innovative and he is who he is, and I respect that,” he said on her latest Playing-A-Round podcast.

“But in the last few weeks it’s been really hard to be a Bryson fan. He’s crossed that line from being different to being a d**k.

“The way he acted to that rules official was so uncalled for and I think it just shows where his headspace is at right now, where he thinks that he is literally pioneering the way that golf is being played, and he is so far and beyond everyone else that he can tell a rules official, whose job is to know the rules inside and out ... ‘I don’t believe you, I need a second ruling’.

“Who do you think you are? Seriously, who do you think you are?

“You know the rules for OB (out of bounds). We have played it from junior golf to college golf to pro golf. It has never changed.”

‘True colours come out’: Spiranac on DeChambeau

Spiranac also referenced his issue with the cameraman from the previous tournament and claiomed DeChambeau was showing his “true colours”.

“You can be frustrated, and I understand tempers are running hot, especially when you’re making a big number and you’re compounding your problems, but to not even say thank you to either of those rules officials (is poor form),” she added.

“And then the most shocking thing on top of this, he said he wanted to jump the fence and play it from the other side. What was he going to hit, from a metal fence?

“Bryson was so condescending towards the rules official, it wasn’t cool. Now I can see why he doesn’t want cameras on him, cos he’s a d**k.

“Of course you’re not going to want cameras around you when you’re acting like that and your true colours come out.

“It’s crazy that he would do that.”

That took him from 1 over for the tournament — two shots inside the cut line — to 6 over and a short week.

DeChambeau came into the Memorial as arguably the hottest player in golf, with 19 consecutive rounds at par or better, and seven straight top 10s. That included a victory in his last start at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which he beat into submission with his powerful drives.
