Queensland Health were slammed for a social media post (pictured right) regarding social distancing at the AFL Grand Final (pictured right) at the Gabba.

The Queensland Health department copped some online backlash on Saturday after a social media post clearly missed the mark.

Brisbane won the right to host a historic AFL Grand Final in 2020 after the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc with the schedule in Melbourne.

The Grand Final between Geelong and Richmond will be the first finale hosted outside of Victoria and fans are expected to flock to the match, despite the severe weather warning.

As a result, Queensland Health reiterated the message of social distancing that has become a way of life during the pandemic.

Sticking with the theme of AFL, Queensland Health used AFL balls as a measuring stick for the 1.5m social distancing message.

But fans were quick to claim the message missed the mark.

“How do you visualise 1.5m? Today we’re using around 3 AFL balls. When it comes to social distancing it doesn’t matter what you visualise, what matters most is that you’re keeping a safe 1.5m distance from others,” the post read.

Unfortunately, the length of three AFL balls falls quite short of the 1.5m social-distancing requirement.

“Makes sense to get the measurement wrong since it’s the only sport that gives you a point for being close enough,” one user joked.

“How is this post still up with such inaccurate information,” another wrote.

“Whaaaaaaaat? A football is 11-12 inches, 30cm max. 1.5m is FIVE footballs. Please, if you can’t give good information just shut it rather than give bad information,” a user wrote.

“What kind of AFL ball is half a metre long,” another said.

AFL Final to go ahead amid fears of storms

Amid fears of thunderstorms ruining the Gabba grand final spectacle, Geelong coach Chris Scott has given up trying to predict Queensland's weather.

The 44-year-old spent 14 seasons in Brisbane as a player and admits he never worked it out.

But his Cats are prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at them and Richmond after the 7.30pm AEDT bounce down on Saturday night.

"(Wet weather) would change the way we play against anyone, but it would be the same for the opposition as well," Scott said.

"They (Richmond) have got a bit of recent experience with slippery conditions over in Adelaide, but I've given up forecasting the weather.

"I've made too many mistakes year after year and it's become a bit of an in-joke with our coaching team."

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a shower or two with possible evening thunderstorms and a top of 27C in Brisbane on Saturday.

There is a 70 per cent chance of rain.
