Aussie legend mocks Matthew Wade's 'bizarre' tactic in hilarious tweet

Aussie cricket great Adam Gilchrist has mocked batsman Matthew Wade on social media after a bizarre innings against New Zealand.

Wade was questioned in the aftermath of his innings which saw New Zealand quicks pepper him with short deliveries.

Wade was regularly struck on the body by Neil Wagner leaving him with a sore finger and welting on his arm, while Pat Cummins also struck Black Cap BJ Watling on the helmet.

But Wade also opted to wear some of the pain in order to avoid playing a shot.

Former Aussie wicket-keeper/batsman Gilchrist had fun with the bizarre tactic.

The bizarre tactic prompted Fox Sports commentators Kerry O’Keefe and Michael Vaughan to question the innings.

“It was a bizarre innings from Matthew Wade,” O’Keefe said.

“That can’t be the way Matthew Wade wants to play in Test cricket,” Vaughan added.

“He’s a Test match number five you’ve got to ask a question or two of the bowler.”
