$300 energy rebate update as millions get cost-of-living support this month
Households will see the next instalment of the $300 energy rebate credited to their bills from this month.
Aussie households will have the next round of their $300 energy rebate credited to their accounts in their next billing cycle. The cost-of-living relief began rolling out in July, but some Aussie states saw a delay in their first payment.
An Australian Energy Council (AEC) spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo Finance that there would be no delay to the second round of the $75 quarterly credit. It will begin rolling out to eligible households from October.
Victoria, New South Wales and South Australian customers didn’t end up seeing the $75 quarterly rebates start hitting their accounts until August, as energy providers had been “awaiting finalisation of arrangements”.

A similar delay will not happen for the second round, with the AEC spokesperson noting retailers were now “fully set up” to pass on the rebate to eligible customers in their next billing cycle.
When will the energy rebate be credited to my power bill?
The exact timing will depend on which state or territory you live in, as well as your individual billing cycle.
New South Wales, Queensland, South Australian, ACT, NT and Tasmanian customers can expect the remaining instalments to flow through from October 1, 2024, January 1, 2025 and April 1, 2025.
Victorian customers can expect them from October 1, 2024, January 13, 2025, and April 1, 2025.
Western Australian households will receive their rebate in two instalments. Eligible households will get a $700 electricity credit, which includes $400 from the state government and $300 from the federal government scheme. The second instalment will be paid from December 7, 2024.
How do I get the energy rebate?
You don’t need to do anything to receive the rebate. The instalments will be automatically credited to your electricity account each quarter.
Check your electricity bill and if you have not received the bill relief payment after your next billing cycle, contact your electricity provider directly.
