Zayn Malik reschedules tour concerts after Liam Payne's 'heartbreaking' death

Zayn Malik has rescheduled two of his upcoming Edinburgh shows “due to unforeseen circumstances”, it has been announced. The One Direction star previously postponed the US leg of his Stairway To The Sky tour following the “heartbreaking loss” of his former band member Liam Payne, who sadly died in Argentina last month.

Announcing the news on Thursday, 14 November, an Instagram Story explained that the two concerts, due to take place next week, had been rescheduled for December. “Due to unforeseen circumstances Zayn 'Stairway To The Sky' Edinburgh show originally scheduled for the 20th of November has been rescheduled for 8th of December,” it read. “And the Edinburgh show for the 21st of November has been rescheduled to the 9th of December.”

It continued: "All tickets for the original show dates will be honored on the rescheduled dates." As well as Edinburgh, Zayn is set to take his UK tour to London, Wolverhampton, Leeds, Newcastle and Manchester.

Prior to finding success as a solo artist, Zayn had been a member of One Direction alongside Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. However, the Pillowtalk singer left the group in 2015 prior to the remaining members going on indefinite hiatus a year later.

Last month, Zayn opened up about his heartbreak following the tragic death of ex-bandmate Liam, who died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony. “I lost a brother when you left us and can't explain to you what I'd give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly,” he wrote.

“I will cherish all the memories I have of you in my heart forever, there is no words to justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated. I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace, and know how loved you are. Love you bro.”

The rescheduling of his Edinburgh dates comes after Zayn postponed his US tour due to the "heartbreaking loss” of Liam. Having been set to tour the US last month, though the shows have been moved to the beginning of 2025.

“Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I've made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour. The dates are being rescheduled for January and I'll post them as soon as it's all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding,” a statement read.
