Welsh B&B's breakfast options leave guests divided on Channel 4's Four in a Bed
A couple's Welsh B&B breakfast options have left guests divided in a popular Channel 4 show. Tuesday's episode of Four in a Bed saw Catherine and Gareth Morgan showcasing their B&B named Little London in the Abercraf area of Powys.
This would be the second visit of the week. The show sees bed and breakfasts, hotels and glamping sites go head-to-head to be crowned the best of in a week of episodes. The owners rate each other's establishments and the winners are declared after they have all visited and scored each other in a number of categories. Ahead of their guests' arrival, Catherine and Gareth spoke of their B&B and its surroundings. Catherine said: "Everyone loves the tranquility." Gareth interjected: "You can sit and relax." With Catherine adding: "There’s no rush is there?".

With three accommodations on offer, guests had a choice of staying in one of the two bedroom suites in the main house for up to £120 a night based on a two-night minimum. Guests who would stay in one of these suites would have a full breakfast included in the price. Alternatively, guests could also stay at the B&B's glamping pod, which was £110 a night with an extra charge for the morning meal.
As guests arrived at the B&B, one remarked that the building from the outside was "stunning", while another said it was "very classy". Another guest said that one of the suites was "bright and lovely and airy". Dan and Lois, whose Abergwaun Hotel in Fishguard was reviewed in Monday’s episode, were told they would be staying in the glamping pod. While they were busy inspecting their glamping pod, Lois remarked that it did feel like "luxury camping".
However, later in the episode, the Pembrokeshire couple were told that their breakfast would be different to those staying in the bedroom suites of the main building at Little London. While options were limited for those staying at the self-catering pod, those staying in the bedroom suites of the main house were given various options for breakfast.
At breakfast the next morning, Lois said that she had enjoyed her breakfast, but said she would have liked to have been offered the same as the rest of the guests. "I think we should have had the option for a full English breakfast considering they’re doing it already," she said.
Meanwhile, those staying in the main house were complimentary about the breakfast they were given, with one remarking they had received a "really nice" avocado with their toast, others said their breakfasts were “delicious” and “gorgeous”. “My breakfast was superb, I really enjoyed it,” one guest added.
Later, another guest said: "I think the price point of our room, to include this, is excellent. It's really good value", and the others agreed. But Dan and Lois believed that the amount Gareth and Catherine were charging for their stay was "far too expensive" considering the limited breakfast that was on offer for them in the glamping pod.
Most of the guests marked various categories as an eight or a nine, but the choices of breakfast seemed to have divided the guests in their opinions. While some described their breakfast as “superb” and marked the B&B an impressive 10, Dan and Lois said that while they “enjoyed what they ordered”, it was “overpriced”, and marked their breakfast with a seven.
Despite a divide in their opinions, each guest said they would stay again. The three couples then had to put a secret amount of cash into an envelope which reflected what they believed their stay at the hotel was worth. The amounts each couple paid will be revealed at the end of the competition later this week.
While overlooking the guests' feedback at the end of Tuesday's episode, Catherine and Gareth were happy when they found out they were marked with 10 for their breakfast by one of the couples. However, Gareth remarked that he was "disappointed" with the seven for their breakfast left by another couple, while Catherine concluded "it is what it is".
You can see whether Gareth and Catherine come out on top overall when the series concludes across the rest of this week on Channel 4 at 5pm.
