The Duchess of Cambridge is on her way to becoming an official photographer
Although taking pictures is merely a hobby for the Duchess of Cambridge, her family photographs are some of the most published pictures in the world.
And she’s showing no sign of slowing down. The 34-year-old royal has just been honoured with a lifetime membership to the Royal Photographic Society for her portraits of Prince George and Princess Charlotte along with landscape images from several royal tours.
Kate’s interest in cameras began in childhood with her first professional work being for her parents’ party planning business in 2008.
She has continued to be a truly modern royal by taking her own photos on special occasions instead of employing the usual royal photographers.
The Royal Photographic Society has had a long relationship with the royal family. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert became its first patrons in 1853 with Queen Elizabeth taking up the current role.
“The Duchess is a great, positive role model for anyone interested in photography. She has proved her own skills with her portraits of her children, which are not just family snapshots. We hope that this will be the beginning of a future relationship with the Duchess,” said Amelia Christmas, spokesman for the Society.
Could there be a potential exhibition in the pipeline? We can only wait and see.
