Imelda Staunton wears suit and tie at 'The Crown' premiere while Elizabeth Debicki channels Diana
The stars behind the highly anticipated new season — including Imelda Staunton, Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West — descended on to the red carpet on Tuesday night for the world premiere of The Crown season five.
Season five begins in 1992, detailing the Royal Family’s difficult few years through the mid to late-Nineties, and with it, a new cast of royals.
Playing the late Queen Elizabeth, Imelda Staunton led the charge on the red carpet in a black suit and tie, complete with a crisp white shirt tucked into high-waisted cigarette trousers.
Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Princess Diana in the new season, worked a black sleeveless gown by Dior.

The strapless gown, which the actor wore with a subtle poppy pin, was reminiscent of Princess Diana’s pale blue gown worn to the Cannes Film Festival in 1987, with its chevron pleated detail at the bust and matching neck scarf.
Whilst Diana’s diaphanous tulle Catherine Walker dress featured a scarf which billowed behind her in the French Riviera breeze, Debicki’s draped Dior number was attached to the gown section via a knot detail at the back of the neck.
Stylist Elizabeth Saltzman added several gold Dior bangles to Debicki’s look, and a pair of coordinating strappy Manolo Blahnik flats.
Gillian Anderson, who starred as Margaret Thatcher in season four of the Netflix series, joined her fellow actors in a sleeveless black Chloé dress and silver strappy heels.
Olivia Williams, who plays Camilla Parker Bowles, opted for a red two-piece suit with feather detailing whilst Lesley Manville, who plays Princess Margaret, chose a black short-sleeved gown with embellished beaded details.

Elsewhere, acting icon Marcia Warren, who plays Elizabeth, the Queen Mother in the latest season of The Crown, was exquisitely classic in a burgundy velvet look, and played homage to the Royal Family with her accessories, carrying an embellished crown-shaped handbag on the red carpet.
Also in velvet, Dominic West, who takes over as Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles in season five, channelled his inner bond in a black tuxedo as he walked the red carpet with his whole family, including his wife, Catherine FitzGerald and their four children Dora, Francis, Cristabel and Senen, who is set to star in season six of the show as a teenage Prince William.
