It was Movie Week at Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday 5 October, and both the judges and the dancers got into the cinematic spirit of things, with Mrs Doubtfire, Mary Poppins, Harry Potter, George of the Jungle, Zoolander and the Minions among the movie characters who were represented on the show.

However, Craig Revel Horwood – who was dressed as Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean – sported a grumpy expression that would have been better suited to A Christmas Carol’s Ebenezer Scrooge after he was interrupted by a fellow judge during the feedback part of the show. Following opera singer Wynne Evans and professional partner Katya Jones’s cha cha to Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag from Mrs Doubtfire, the couple turned to the judges for their opinions.

However, as Craig started to tell Wynne and Katya what he thought, head judge Shirley Ballas interrupted him. "I have to say the hip action really let this whole number down, it was really wooden and stiff,” Craig began, only for Shirley to disagree, saying: "No, not at all, not at all!"

Continuing the exchange with Shirley, Craig stood firm, saying: "It was wooden and stiff!" as Shirley contested: "I didn't think it was wooden," leading Craig to insist: "Well, it was..." Craig looked less than impressed with the interruption, but went on to score Wynne and Katya seven points, while Shirley gave them an eight.

The Movie Week show kicked off with a quirky dance number that had the professional dancers in yellow make-up dancing as Minions from the Despicable Me movie franchise, while Kai Widdrington portrayed super villain Gru, complete with an exaggerated pointed nose. Viewers were divided as to whether the opening number was a success or not.
