Shirley Ballas reveals why she's feeling more confident in her 60s
Shirley Ballas reveals why she's feeling more confident in her 60s on Lorraine on Wednesday (20 December).
The Strictly judge appeared on the show to discuss her new book 'Murder On The Dance Floor' and her thoughts on actress Ellie Leach taking home the glitterball this year.
In the interview Shirley also touched on her experiences with online trolling, but revealed despite this, she's feeling and looking better than ever.
In a preview clip of the interview, Shirley discusses how previous marriages and comments in the dance industry affected her body image when she was younger, but now at 63 she's learnt how to rise above them.
She said: "Each woman should know that we all come in different shapes and sizes, I'm learning that, and we're all beautiful in our own right and I'm confidently trying to tell myself that everyday."
Shirley also revealed that she's now also trying to look at herself in the mirror with love after many years of never being able to do that.
The judge also reflected on how the dance industry used be very centred around weight and image, but it's now beginning to change for the better.
Just some of these experiences are touched upon in her debut crime novel, which is inspired by her 40-year-long ballroom career.
She also revealed that the character Lily in the book is built around and inspired by herself and her own dance career.
Shirley's book Murder on The Dance Floor is now available to buy online at selected retailers.
