Savannah Phillips was the unexpected hero of Trooping the Colour 2018

Savannah Phillips, the Queen’s oldest great grandchild, undoubtedly stole the show at Trooping the Colour 2018.

In an unexpected turn of events, the 7-year-old was seen dancing on the Buckingham Palace balcony and faux conducting the national anthem, as the royal family awaited the 1pm fly-over.

The Queen’s great-granddaughter then turned to younger cousin, Prince George, to school him in the art of royal etiquette.

After he playfully sang along to the national anthem and shouted over the annual fly-over, Savannah – who is currently 15th in line to the throne – promptly covered the four-year-old’s mouth and gave a knowing smirk to the nation.

Princess Charlotte on the other hand was blissfully unaware and too busy clapping along at her third parade to notice. She did however, later throw a tantrum and had to be consoled by her mother with a huge hug.

Trooping the Colour 2018 marks the Cambridge children’s first appearance since Harry and Meghan’s royal nuptials.

Their two-month-old brother, Prince Louis of Cambridge, was not at the prestigious ceremony despite speculation that Trooping the Colour 2018 would mark his debut engagement.

Savannah Phillips is the daughter of Autumn and Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne.

This makes Savannah Princess Anne’s eldest grandchild andthe Queen and Prince Phillip’s eldest great-grandchild.

Now 7, Savannah was born on December 29, 2010, in Gloucestershire.

Her father Peter Phillips married Canadian-born Autumn Kelly in 2003 in Windsor Castle (the same setting for Harry and Meghan’s recent nuptials) making Savannah a Canadian citizen by law.

Savannah was born 12th in line to the throne, but the births of her cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have knocked her down to 15th.

Her dual-citizenship as past Canadian makes Savannah the first Canadian in line to the throne.

Interestingly, Savannah doesn’t have a royal title. When her father Peter was born his parents Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips declined the Queen’s offer to given him a royal title, meaning his children do not automatically have one either.
