Sam Smith’s latex body suit was *the* most iconic look of the Brit Awards red carpet
Trust Sam Smith to step out in one of the most iconic outfits of awards season so far.
Fresh from making history at the Grammy Awards last week along with Kim Petras as the first non-binary and transgender winners to take home the gong for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit single Unholy, Smith certainly made an entrance at the 2023 Brit Awards on Saturday evening.
The 30-year-old singer and songwriter matched with Petras in an all red ensemble, complete with cape, cane and top hat for the Grammy Awards, in which they performed and were introduced by the Queen of Pop, Madonna.
Smith certainly made an impression and continued to do so on Saturday evening as they posed for photographers on the Brit Awards red carpet ahead of the awards ceremony at London’s O2 arena.
The Gloria hitmaker chose a highly unusual – but no less iconic – all-in-one latex catsuit which featured voluminous structured detailing at the sleeves and legs.
Created by Harri, along with Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli, the all-black custom-made get up featured large disproportionate, blown up sections on the legs and shoulders that gave the impression of balloons.

Whilst it looked like it could be quite uncomfortable to move in such an unusual outfit, the award-winning artist made it look easy as they posed for photographs ahead of the Brit Awards ceremony.
The latex ensembles, created by Indian-born, London-based designer Hari Krishnan, get their balloon-esque looks from a seven millimetre-wide inflation valve that pumps air throughout the outfit.
The ‘doubled-handled vase trousers’ by the brand are made to order, but can set you back for £4,000 if you fancy a pair of your own.
Smith completed the look with a pair of pearl drop earrings, hanging on a diamond-set anchor – likely a tribute to their fans, who are nicknamed the “little sailors” – and a pair of black leather platform high-heeled boots.
