Royals on the red carpet: The best moments in pictures
It’s not just ribbon cuttings and state dinners that the royals get dressed up for.
Every so often, the Queen and other senior members of the Royal Family have an A-list moment of their own and don their finest attire for a red carpet event.
From film premieres to the BAFTA Awards, galas to theatre performances, the royals have racked up an impressive number of red carpet appearances between them over the years.
The James Bond film franchise has played host to numerous royals at its premieres. The Queen attended the opening of Die Another Day in 2002 and Casino Royale in 2006, whilst the late-Princess Diana was a regular to some of the franchise’s biggest films of the seventies and eighties, including A View to Kill (1977), For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Octopussy (1983)
In 2012, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall walked the red carpet at the premiere of Skyfall, and three years later in 2015, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry all attended the grand opening of Spectre.
The latest Bond film was an all-family affair, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall all showing up for the No Time To Die premiere red carpet in 2021.
But that’s not all. As part of his responsibilities as BAFTA president, Prince William has attended the film board’s annual awards a number of times, often with Kate by his side.
