Princess Eugenie gives birth to baby boy, Buckingham Palace confirms

Princess Eugenie has given birth to a baby boy, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
The news was announced via social media on Tuesday afternoon.
Eugenie, 30, also shared her own post on Instagram, including the first snap of the baby boy’s fingers, intertwined with her own and her husband’s.
She simply captioned it with three blue hearts, and two exclamation marks.
The palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital. Jack Brooksbank was present.
“The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
A spokesman for the palace added: “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

Eugenie and Jack, who works as the European brand director of Casamigos Tequila, married in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in October 2018.
They confirmed they were expecting a baby in September 2020, revealing they were “so excited” for early 2021.
The baby is the Queen’s ninth great-grandchild and is 11th in line to the throne.
His name has not yet been announced - but bookies’ reckoned Arthur was likely for a boy.
The boy bumps Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, down in the line of succession, as well as his children, and Princess Anne, who comes after him owing to an old law.
Younger brothers previously bumped their older sisters out of their place in the line to the throne. That law was updated in 2013 but does not apply retrospectively.

Sending their congrats, Eugenie’s Anti-Slavery collective tweeted: “On behalf of everyone at The Anti-Slavery Collective, we want to say congratulations to our co-founder, HRH Princess Eugenie, on the birth of her baby.”
Prince Charles and Camilla also sent their congratulations through their Clarence House Instagram.
Eugenie’s older cousin Zara Tindall, another of the Queen’s granddaughters is also expecting a baby, to be the Queen’s 10th great-grandchild.
The princess, who does not carry out royal duties but is styled as Her Royal Highness, chose Portland Hospital to deliver her son, following the footsteps of Meghan Markle.
Eugenie was also born at Portland Hospital.
The Duchess of Cambridge had her three children at the Lindo Wing in St Mary’s Hospital.

Eugenie and Jack were said to have moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor ahead of the arrival of their child, but then were thought to have left again.
Frogmore Cottage was the home of Prince Harry and Meghan while they were senior members of the Royal Family.
But it had been empty when they left to move to the US.
Its proximity to Windsor Castle would have been ideal for the royals, as the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson, live in the grounds.
The Queen is currently at the castle, as is Prince Philip. The Queen usually spends weekends there as well.
