Prince William wanted George to wear England shirt to Wembley - but Kate was 'not so keen'

Prince William wanted his son Prince George to be able to wear his England jersey to Wembley to watch the Euro 2020 final, it has emerged.
Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli had afternoon tea with the Duchess of Cambridge on Saturday and she revealed that Kate said there was a bit of a dispute between the couple over what George would get to wear.
George, seven, previously went to the England v Germany round of 16 match with William and Kate at Wembley, but did not attend the semi-final.
However he was taken along to the final on Sunday evening, despite the late kick-off time.
Many fans were surprised to see the youngster in a suit during his first visit to Wembley, instead of a replica England shirt, and comparisons were drawn with his father who was also in a suit.
Now it has emerged there may have been some discussions between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge about what George should wear for the final, after he donned the suit before.

Bartoli said on Radio 5 Live: "Yesterday I had an afternoon tea with the duchess and it was very much a discussion whether George will be allowed to wear the jersey tonight at Wembley or not.
"William was for it, Kate not so keen, so we'll see."
Had George worn a jersey he would have matched the prime minister, Boris Johnson, who wore an England shirt in the box, despite being surrounded by royalty and celebrities who had gone for suits and ties.
There is no formal dress code for the Club Wembley boxes, but club replica shirts are not allowed at matches. International attire is allowed.
William attended the match in his capacity as the President of the FA, but Kate and George's attendance was not confirmed in advance.

Kate, 39, was at the All England Club in Wimbledon in the afternoon for the Gentleman's singles final, and probably could not confirm she would be able to make the match on time after the trophy presentation.
George is too young to be treated as a working royal.
Before the match, William, 39, sent a video message to Gareth Southgate's team urging them to "bring it home" because the whole nation was behind them.
He sent a personal tweet soon after the loss, saying: "Heartbreaking. Congratulations @azzurri on a great victory.
"@England, you’ve all come so far, but sadly this time it wasn’t our day. You can all hold your heads high, and be so proud of yourselves — I know there’s more to come. W."
William also went down to visit the team in their changing room after the match with Southgate saying he "thanked them for what they have done and was fulsome in his praise".
