Pregnant Meghan turns to Canadian-born designer Erdem for Commonwealth Day event

The Duchess of Sussex chose an apt fashion label as she and the duke attended a Commonwealth Day youth event at Canada House in London on Monday morning.

Meghan, who is around seven months pregnant, chose a forest green embroidered coat by Canadian-born, London-based Erdem from his autumn/winter 2019 collection.

The duchess has long been a fan of the Montreal-born designer, as have the Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Eugenie.

California-born Meghan, 37, has a close affinity with Canada, having lived in Toronto while filming legal drama Suits for six years.

Meghan and Harry met with groups of young Canadians living in London, from a wide range of sectors including fashion, the arts, business and academia, about their experiences as expats as well as opportunities for young people working in the Commonwealth.

The couple also got involved in a maple taffy making session (maple syrup cooled on snow to make sweets) with youngsters and watched a musical performance.

The duchess teamed her coat with a matching dress, her classic Aquazzura Deneuve bow pumps and her black satin Givenchy clutch bag.

She’s expected to give birth to their first child at the end of April/beginning of May.

Later today Harry and Meghan will join the Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

It’s Meghan’s first attendance as a member of the Royal Family. Last year she accompanied her then-fiancé Harry to the service, just a couple of months before their May 18 wedding.
