Platinum Jubilee: Duchess of Cambridge chic in lemon yellow for Service of Thanksgiving

The Duchess of Cambridge attended the Service of Thanksgiving on Friday as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee wearing a lemon yellow dress and matching hat.

Kate, 40, arrived in the Emilia Wickstead dress and Philip Treacy hat with the Duke of Cambridge at St Paul's Cathedral in London, looking cheerful as they walked up the steps into the church, greeting the clergymen.

They arrived shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the first time the four have been seen together in public since March 2020.

The service marks the Queen’s reign, spanning seven decades as monarch.

Great Paul, the largest bell in the country, was rung for the service ahead of the arrival of the Royal Family, which also included Price Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

Kate and William, who wore a black suit, with his service medals on display, were seated between Camilla and Princess Anne.

The service included a new anthem by Judith Weir, Master of the Queen's Music, that sets to music words from the third Chapter of the Book of Proverbs.

The Cambridge's three children, Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, weren't in attendance. They did, however, enjoy the jubilee celebrations on Thursday, including joining their great-grandmother the Queen on the balcony for Trooping the Colour, with Louis stealing the show.

It was announced by Buckingham Palace after Thursday's daytime events that the Queen would not attend the service at St Paul's.

With Prince Charles officially representing the Queen on Friday, she instead watched the service on TV from Windsor Castle.

“The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s birthday parade and flypast but did experience some discomfort,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend.”

However, she still participated in Thursday evening's beacon lighting at Windsor Castle.

This followed an earlier announcement on the same day that Prince Andrew has tested positive for COVID-19 and would not be attending the Service of Thanksgiving.

Kate was last seen wearing a white recycled Alexander McQueen blazer dress for the Trooping the Colour ceremony on the first day of the jubilee celebrations, and a navy white hat, also by Philip Treacy.

George, Charlotte, and Louis joined their mother, and Camilla, in the first carriage for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee birthday parade along The Mall.

Traveling from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade, the three siblings all dipped their heads and saluted the colour, showing they had been schooled on the etiquette of the event.
