Phillip Schofield’s daughter has revealed that she has been “overwhelmed” by the reaction to her father’s new Channel 5 show, Phillip Schofield: Cast Away. As part of the three-part series, viewers have seen the former This Morning presenter, who stepped down from his presenting roles at ITV and This Morning in May 2023, deserted on an island off Madagascar for 10 days.

With the third episode set to hit our screens on Wednesday, 2 October, Phillip’s eldest daughter Molly has opened up about the TV show and has thanked all those who have sent “love and support” to herself and her dad. “HUGE thank you to everyone who has sent amazing messages to me for my dad, we are overwhelmed by the amount of love and support and have read through them together.. I can’t express how much he appreciates your kind words,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

“This is me having my say as I bow out and the thing is when you do a programme like this and you do it just for yourself, you have nothing to lose,” he said.

“They’ve taken pretty much everything from me, reputation, dignity, legacy, everything – anyway, I’m not bleating, I’m just getting it off my chest. The reason I am doing that is because I am loving this challenge, I am loving what I am finding out about myself, and loving every day. When I get on that boat and leave here I will know that I did my best and I’ve said my piece, and anyone who is bitter about that, honestly you can f**k off because I don’t give a s**t – I quit!”

His return to our screens comes after he stepped back from This Morning in May 2023 after more than 20 years on the show. In a statement released at the time, Phillip said: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
