Nick Knowles has broken his silence after he was forced to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing. The DIY SOS presenter is unable to dance in the third live show due to injury, but will be allowed to dance in the next show if he has recovered. The sad news was announced on Friday, 4 October, in a statement shared by the show on its official social media channel.

The message to fans read: "Unfortunately, Nick Knowles sustained an injury during rehearsals and as a result, will not dance this weekend. As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery."

Not long after the initial statement was shared, Nick addressed fans on X. He reposted the message from Strictly and emotionally added: "I'm absolutely gutted and feeling very very sad."

This week is Movie Week on Strictly, and Nick and partner Luba Mushtuk had been due to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2. The 'bye' means they will be back to perform next week in the competition, should he make a full recover.

It's the second injury Nick has suffered since starting Strictly. Nick's first injury to his arm and shoulder happened after his car broke down during the weekend of the first live show and he had to quickly change a tyre by the roadside because his young son was in the car and he wanted to make sure his family was safe. It meant he was dancing with the pain of the injury during the opening show on Saturday 28 September, but a few days before his performance he confirmed to BBC's Morning Live that although the injury was still bothering him, he was improving by the day.

Speaking about his arm, he said at the time: "I'm a lot better. The arm's getting stronger every day and I'm feeling better. The strength is getting better each day. We'll need to build this dance a little but around it, but anyway, it's not an excuse this week I'm either good enough or I'm not."

The TV star had also revealed that he and Luba had been offered a 'bye' during that week too, but had turned it down. Nick added: "We were offered the chance of a bye but I felt like that would be cheating and we really should try and go for it. I spoke to the physios and once that was decided, you just throw yourself into it. The harder you work, the more confidence you gain."
