'Thank you, Meghan': Charity pays tribute to Duchess of Sussex for new film

An elephant charity which will benefit from the first job Meghan Markle does outside senior royal life has thanked the duchess for her support.
On Thursday, Disney+ confirmed it would be streaming Elephant, a film narrated by the Duchess of Sussex, the first piece of work she will do without the constraints of being a senior member of the Royal Family.
The voiceover, understood to have been recorded in Autumn last year in London, benefits Elephants without Borders, which works in elephant conservation.
The charity said it “extend enormous gratitude to the Disney Conservation Fund for choosing our organisation as the beneficiary for the film, enabling support for communities living alongside many of the elephants featured in the film”.
In a post on Instagram, the charity wrote: “Harry and Meghan have both visited us in Botswana, and have no doubt that their passion and dedication will mean they continue to use their platform to make our world a better place.
“Thank you Meghan, because of you, this film brings knowledge and information to a global audience which in turn brings them closer to elephants. The impact will be global, reaching schools, more homes and more countries.”

The film will stream on Disney+ from 3 April, just two days after the couple stop being senior royals.
They will likely have to rebrand their Instagram account, which is currently using the handle SussexRoyal.
However they have agreed not to use the word royal in any of their branding, because of UK copyright legislation.

The couple is understood to have moved to California, leaving their borrowed home in Vancouver Island as the border between the US and Canada closed last week.
The western coastal state’s stay at home order could present an early problem as they roll out their new non-profit while in lockdown as California tackles coronavirus.
Meghan’s film announcement came shortly before Prince Harry released a new single for the Invictus Games.
Unbroken was re-recorded in London, in Abbey Road Studios, with Jon Bon Jovi, in February.
Despite the games being postponed because of COVID-19, the royal has released the single anyway for download and stream.
Sharing it on their stories, Harry said: “Thank you for the support, Jon.
“Well done to the choir, sounds great.”
