Marmol Radziner Revitalized This 1950s Connecticut Estate. Now It Can Be Yours for $11.5 Million.
West Coast transplants will feel right at home at this Connecticut compound. On the market for $11.5 million, the roughly four-and-a-half-acre spread in Greenwich has recently emerged from an extensive revamp at the hands of the celebrated architecture firm Marmol Radziner. Originally built in the 1950s, the estate features a main house, a pool house, and a guest cottage.
“Each residence is infused with a relaxed California style, emphasizing a connection to the outdoors, seamlessly paired with a clean, classic aesthetic resulting in inviting living and entertaining spaces,” notes the listing, which is being held by Joanne Mancuso with Houlihan Lawrence. Interestingly, the Aiken Road abode was formerly part of the palatial 60-acre Wilshire Farm estate.

Spanning 6,755 square feet, the Mansard-roofed main residence, an Americanized version of a French country house, features four bedrooms and four baths across two levels. The overall design is emblematic of the L.A.-based studio’s sophisticated signature style with lots of marble and stone, plus French oak flooring and lime plaster walls. Highlights include a dramatic double-height entry that sports a custom skylight and, nearby, a spacious living room with arched French doors, a marble fireplace, and a hidden speakeasy-esque bar lined with hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper. There’s also a stunning chef’s kitchen decked out with black soapstone-topped counters and a breakfast nook equipped with banquette seating.
Elsewhere is a sunroom that gets tons of natural light thanks to the walls of windows. The primary suite rounds out the first floor, complete with a study, a fireplace, two walk-in closets, and its own bathroom. The design duo also did a number on the 1920s era pool house too, which has been converted into an open-concept living and dining space with lofty wood-beamed ceilings and a kitchenette. Privately tucked away at the back of the property is the guest cottage with two further bedrooms, a fireside living room, an eat-in kitchen, and its own motor court with a detached two-car garage.

Marmol Radziner was founded in 1989 by architects Leo Marmol and Ron Radziner and, ever since, the firm’s work has been beloved by shelter publications and A-list celebs, including Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis, Bradley Cooper, Tom Ford, Ellen DeGeneres, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The duo has also found massive success restoring iconic historic homes such as the Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs, originally designed by Richard Neutra.
