MAFS UK's Kieran breaks silence and apologises to Kristina after pair leave experiment - leaving co-stars in tears
All the Married At First Sight couples and at least one of the experts were holding back the tears on Tuesday 5 November as fan favourite couple Kieran and Kristina both voted to leave the experiment during the final commitment ceremony. Despite having an amazing wedding that kicked off with Kieran showing his joker side by wearing a set of comedy false teeth while waiting to meet his bride, the couple’s relationship has floundered over recent weeks.
Their honeymoon was bliss, it seemed, but once in the apartments they became more like friends than a bride and groom, and when it came to the homestay part of the experiment, Kieran opted to go home alone, leaving Kristina to return to her family without him, too. Finally, on the couch for the final commitment ceremony with the experts and the remaining married couples, Kieran voted to leave the experiment, saying he could not give Kristina the emotional support she needed in a relationship.
Kristina, meanwhile, gave a lovely speech about her feelings for Kieran and the experiment before saying that she, too, had decided to leave. Expert Charlene Douglas replied that she was trying not to cry as she thought so much of both of them, and it was clear that all the other couples were devastated by their decision, with Sacha and Ross, Amy and Luke, Nathan and Lacey and Polly and Adam all looking visibly upset.

Fans were emotional, too, with many sending their support to both Kristina and Kieran. One wrote: “This girl deserves the world,” while a second commented: “Not Kristina and Kieran! Love these guys!! So glad they have stayed friends. Was rooting for them.” Another added: “They were the golden couple in the beginning and I had such high hopes for Kieran and Kristina. It’s just sad. I’m not sure how to feel about it. Hope Kristina finds someone as special as she is,” and a fourth shared a photo of Kristina with the words: “One and only genuine and beautiful soul in this year of MAFS. Absolute gem.”
Since the episode aired, Kieran has taken to Instagram to talk about his decision, and Kristina has shared his post that features a photo of the two of them laughing. He began by writing: “Is there a better wife on this series that I could have been matched with? No. Do I regret letting Kristina go? No.”

He went on to say he wasn’t the right man for her and that “she deserves someone to put her on a pedestal. Someone who can give their whole self to her, someone who can support her through the highs and lows. But I’m afraid that just isn’t me anymore.”
Kieran added that he couldn’t be the support that she needs, and that he finds that “really sad.” He also included a heartfelt message to his former bride that read: “Kristina, first of all I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I couldn’t be there for you, I’m sorry that I’ve been trying to decide over the last couple of weeks whether I have it in me or not. I’m sorry I voiced that you have similarities to a previous relationship, and I never meant to compare you. I’m just sorry I couldn’t make it work.”
He ended the post thanking her and everyone involved in the series, and wrote: “Anyone who is ever lucky enough to meet you is blessed. Keep being you, keep spreading your happiness, you are infectious.”
He signed off: “See you soon ‘mate’ (that’s our inside joke to those who are livid).”
