Liam Payne's texts to 1D mentor Nicole Scherzinger on day he died as she shares heartbreaking goodbye letter
Nicole Scherzinger has shared a heartbreaking letter to Liam Payne on Instagram, after his tragic death last week. The former Pussycat Doll first met Liam on The X Factor in 2010, helping to create the phenomenon One Direction, and it has now been revealed she was texting him until the day he died.
The singer tragically fell to his death in his hotel in Argentina on October 16, as tributes continue to flood in. Andrew Lloyd Webber has now spoken out on the devastating events, revealing that Nicole was still in contact with Liam. The star, who composed the music for the Broadway musical Sunset Blvd., which stars Nicole, said: "I suppose something that hasn’t been said, and I suppose I could say, is that of course she mentored Liam, from One Direction," he told Billboard.
“On the Wednesday when he died, she was still texting him that day, and [that evening] the reviewers came in [to SUNSET ], she’d just heard that he died. And the fact that she even did the show at all is extraordinary,” the 76-year-old continued. Andrew concluded by calling Nicole an ‘amazing, amazing, woman’.

“She is without any question one of the finest performers I’ve ever worked with.”
On Friday, Nicole took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late star by posting recent pictures with Liam and Kelly Rowland. The trio were set to star as part of a judging team for new Netflix show, Building The Band, which had already started filming.
Alongside the pictures, Nicole penned: “Dear Liam, I will forever cherish and treasure the time we shared together, from fifteen years ago when One Direction was born, right up until just a few weeks ago.
“It was such a blessing to get to work with you recently. We shared the same love and passion for music and I will forever remember the meaningful and joyful conversations we had. It’s been so hard to process that you’re no longer here, but I am grateful to have known your kind heart, sweet soul and character.
“You brought so much joy, light, and laughter to the lives of those that truly knew you. I will “miss you” my friend and carry you in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family,” she emotionally concluded.
Fans took to the comments to send their love, as one penned: “My heart is with you. I know how much Liam and the band meant to you, and now knowing you spent much of the summer with him. Stay strong. And we all thank you for making One Direction.”
A second wrote: “Love you Nicole. Thank you for bringing these 5 amazing boys to us. Take care."
