Kylie Jenner's black spiky porcupine dress is serving dark drama

When it comes to the rich and famous, there's a common misconception that all our favourite celebrities need to do is snap their fingers and the latest designer fashions magically appear for them to wear. In fact, more often than not, the process of having an A-lister rep a designer's clothes is a pretty arduous one.

If you've watched The Kardashians, specifically the episodes relating to the famous family's attendance at the annual Met Gala, you'll know the effort Kim Kardashian puts into planning her red carpet looks. Be it travelling to France to meet Karl Lagerfeld's beloved cat, Choupette, for the 2023 Met Gala or getting momager Kris Jenner on the phone to convince Ripley's to loan Marilyn Monroe's *actual* dress for the 2022 Met Gala.

Well, it seems like Kylie Jenner has taken a leaf out of her older sister's book for her attire to attend the 2024 CFDA Awards in New York last night [Monday 28 October].

Arriving at the American Museum of Natural History, the venue for the prestigious event, Kylie wowed in a high-neck, long-sleeve ankle-length dress that was constructed entirely from glossy black feathers. While the bodice of the design was constructed from short feathers that resembled scales, the figure-hugging skirt featured dramatic spikes protruding out from the skirt at 90-degree angles to create a protective barrier around the fashion and beauty entrepreneur, like that of a porcupine.

Kylie skipped all jewellery, adding a pair of simple black strappy heels to let the dress take centre stage.

The dress is a Haider Ackermann creation, originally shown during Jean Paul Gaultier's SS23 couture collection show as a collaboration between the two designers. Kylie revealed on her Instagram stories the red carpet moment had been a long time coming. She shared a photo timestamped from 26 February 2023 of her modelling the dress, writing over the top of the image, “I've been saving this masterpiece for the perfect night. so many fitting pics. London 2023.”

Safe to say, it was definitely worth the wait as Kylie looked truly stunning!
