Kim Kardashian reveals unusual way she applies skincare products to her face
While how you apply your skincare might not be something you think about much, Kim Kardashian has made a strong case for patting rather than rubbing products onto your face.
The reality TV star and businesswoman – who turned 42 years old yesterday – has claimed that the "rubbing in" motion common in most beauty regimes could actually be damaging.
In a post on Instagram, the mother-of-four then revealed that she "pats" on her skincare to help protect her complexion.
She said that the unusual approach towards applying the likes of toners, serums and moisturisers could help maintain a youthful glow for longer.
Captioning a video of herself demonstrating, Kardashian wrote: "Technique matters.
"Rubbing in your products can stretch the skin, break down collagen and elastin, and prevent proper absorption.
"Instead, applying your toner, serums, and moisturizers with a patting motion is not only less damaging to the skin structure, but it also stimulates blood flow and lymphatic drainage, and helps prevent pilling."

The clip has received more than 370,000 'likes' and stirred up much discussion among social media users.
One person wrote: "Thank you for the tips, queen."
It was unclear if she was using products from her new skincare line, SKKN by Kim, launched earlier this year.
Following on from her make-up range, the nine products include cleansers and face oils.

While Kardashian's technique might seem a little arbitrary, the star isn't the first to endorse patting rather than rubbing.
Indeed, it has long been a core component of the Japanese beauty trend – also big in South Korea – that has grown popular in recent years in the West.
As reported by Allure, Asian skincare experts believe that it can minimise pulling on the skin, increase absorption of products and stimulate blood flow for glowier results.
