Kate Middleton's secret parenting lesson she learned from unlikely royal mentor
Prince William and Kate Middleton are following the late Princess Diana 's methods in preparing their children for life in the monarchy, according to a leading royal expert. The couple's "brilliant" and "effective" parenting techniques are about giving Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, who turned six back in April, a "balance", former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond previously told OK!.
Speaking about how Princess Diana raised her own sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, all those years ago, Jennie explained: "I remember her telling me that she was adamant that she would give them work days and play days."
She continued: "On work days, William and Harry knew that they had to be like royal princes, and they had to dress like a prince and behave like a prince and be on show like a prince – but on play days, they could put on their jeans and baseball caps and go and eat a burger and drive a go-kart crazily around a track."

The royal expert added that she believes that Prince George's development into a "pretty confident young man", in particular, comes thanks to the balance adopted by Princess Diana, which will prepare the prince for the "privileged but tough" role ahead of him. The young prince attended the first Easter service of King Charles' new reign with his family at St George’s Chapel in Windsor last Easter ahead of the King's Coronation.
Matching his father, Prince William, in a smart blue suit, he confidently strode ahead of his parents and younger siblings, prompting many to marvel at how relaxed and at ease the youngster looked to be in front of the waiting well-wishers and photographers.
Jennie commented at the time: "George didn’t seem to need to hold hands with his parents any more. And, of course, there’s Louis, who does want to hold hands and probably needs to hang on to his mother – or rather, his mother probably needs to hang on to him because he seems to be a mischievous one!"
It comes as King Charles is said to be taking two doctors and a supply of his own blood as he embarks on his tour of Australia and Samoa, with his wife, Queen Camilla, by his side.
The 77-year-old monarch, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer at the start of this year, is said to have a team of medics on standby at all times, day or night, during the tour, which will take place from October 18 to 26.
Whilst King Charles’ cancer battle is ongoing, his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, recently gave an update on her own cancer experience in September, as she revealed that her preventative chemotherapy had now ended and that she is focusing on staying ‘cancer-free’.
The world was left stunned earlier this year when the King announced he had cancer in February, closely followed by his daughter-in-law Princess Kate in March.
