Duchess of Cambridge stands in solidarity with Ukraine in blue cashmere jumper

The Duchess of Cambridge made a rare political statement with her fashion choices amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by the Russian military as her and Prince William were photographed in London on Wednesday.
During a visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Holland Park, the duchess was seen wearing a blue Alexander McQueen cashmere jumper, in a shade similar to that of the Ukrainian flag.
Kate, 40, paired the cerulean sweater with navy, high-waisted trousers, in a style that seems to have become a go-to for the duchess, and finished her outfit with a pair of dark pointed toe court shoes.

The mum of three was attending an engagement with William, who coordinated in a navy suit and jumper, with a light blue shirt underneath. The royal couple made the visit to the centre to learn more about the efforts being made to support Ukrainians in the UK and across Europe amidst Russia's invasion of the Eastern European country.
The final sign of solidarity from the Cambridges was a pin badge of the Ukrainian flag with a white heart worn by both the duke on his lapel, and the duchess on her jumper, to double down on their support for the community and volunteers.
Although the senior royal couple largely stand neutral when it comes to both UK and global politics, the pair made a rare statement in response to Russian troops entering Ukraine at the end of February. “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future,” the tweet read. “Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future 🇺🇦 W & C.”

President Zelensky later took a moment to thank the duke and duchess for their support, tweeting, “Olena and I are grateful to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that at this crucial time, when Ukraine is courageously opposing Russia's invasion, they stand by our country and support our brave citizens. Good will triumph.”
Although the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are usually under instructions to not make any “overtly political statements” as senior members of the Royal Family, Kate has been making subtle nods of late. Most notably, she attended a vigil for Sarah Everard in March 2021, and laid flowers for her at Clapham Common.
