The Duchess of Cambridge pays sweet tribute to Princess Diana in Belize
The Duchess of Cambridge has paid a sweet tribute to Princess Diana with her first appearance on the Caribbean royal tour.
Kate, 40, stepped off the plane in Belize yesterday wearing jewellery that previously belonged to husband Prince William's late mother.
This included sapphire and diamond earrings and a pendant necklace, which are believed to be from Princess Diana's 'sapphire' collection.
The royal mother-of-three previously wore the set to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska in 2020 – suggesting that their reappearance this weekend might also have been a subtle gesture of support for Ukraine.
According to Town & Country, the pieces were given to the princess as a wedding gift from the Saudi royal family in 1981.
The duchess' jewellery gave some sparkle to a cobalt-hued outfit – which appeared to nod to Belize's blue flag – that she stepped out in to disembark from the plane.

She wore a lace, peplum-style dress designed by Jenny Packham, along with a £400 pair of Emmy London heels and a clutch bag.
Finishing off her look, the duchess opted for her trademark chic make-up and wore her hair in a half-up style.
The look was a hit with royal fans who praised the head-turning ensemble after the duke and duchess posted on Instagram about the start of their eight-day trip – which also includes Jamaica and the Bahamas.
The first image they shared also gave social media users a sneak peek at the royal plane they had used for their 11-hour flight.

They travelled on the RAF Voyager, which was specially converted in 2016 for use by the Royal Family, as well as the prime minister and government ministers, for official overseas travel.
Captioning the image, they wrote: "Arriving in Belize, the first stop of our Caribbean tour!"
The couple also shared a picture of them greeting Belize's Governor General Froya Tzalam, as well as other images from their first day of the visit – which is to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee.
