Kate meets with a young photographer battling cancer
As she recovers from her recent battle with cancer, the Princess of Wales is making sure to be there for others going through a similar experience.
This week Kate met with a teenage photographer, Liz, at Windsor Castle. A photo of the two embracing, and second image showing Liz and her family with Kate and Prince William, were shared on the royal couple’s social media accounts.
“A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today,” the post caption read. “A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. W&C.”
The 16-year-old is battling a rare form of cancer, Harper’s Bazaar has learned. Liz was invited to photograph William’s investitures at the palace after he heard about her love of the art at a previous engagement for London Air Ambulance. The teen’s mother, Vicky Robayna, told the BBC that doctors have given her daughter between six months and three years to live.
A royal source tells Bazaar: “Following the investiture, both the Prince and Princess of Wales met Liz privately with her family to hear about her day and journey.”

In the photos, Liz is seen wearing a light green sweater with a white tank top and white trousers. Kate wore a deep burgundy suit, beige top, and gold earrings, while William was smart in his navy military uniform, which he wore over a sky blue shirt and black tie.
Kate recently completed chemotherapy treatment, following a cancer diagnosis earlier this year. In an emotional video statement shared on her social media channels on 9 September, the royal said: “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we’ve had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.” With her treatment now completed, Kate said she plans on “undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months”.
The princess has since begun slowly returning to work on the issues that matter to her most.
