Kate Beckinsale didn't see daughter Lily for two years due to the pandemic
Pandemic restrictions have unexpectedly hit families in numerous ways – including the A-list.
Like many other mothers, Kate Beckinsale has revealed how wasn't able to see her daughter Lily for two years due to COVID-19 rules.
Speaking on TV show Live with Kelly and Ryan, the actress, 47, opened up about how "preposterous" it was to have been separated from her only child for so long.
The star – who has since been reunited with the 22-year-old – said: "I haven't seen my daughter for two years because of everything.
"Also, I went to Canada working and she couldn't come see me.
"Two years of not seeing your child is, to me, the most preposterous thought."
Beckinsale – who shares Lily with ex-husband Michael Sheen – lives in Los Angeles, while her daughter is based in New York.
She added: "Thank goodness for FaceTime and all that, but we're both panicking that we'll look really old to each other."
The Hollywood star, who appears in new film Jolt, recently opened up in another interview about the heartbreaking reason why the ageing process means little to her.
Beckinsale explained how the passing of her father, the actor Richard Beckinsale, from a sudden heart attack when she was five impacted on how she feels about getting older.
Speaking to The Sunday Times' Style magazine, she said: "I've been so aware of the possibility people can drop dead at any time."
Of being present for her own daughter, the mother-of-one added: "I definitely had a sort of ‘I have to make sure I stay alive’ [feeling]. Even if she hates me, I’ve got to just be here."
