The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are looking forward to building a “lasting friendship with the Irish people” during their official visit to Ireland on 3 March.
Kensington Palace has put out an official statement detailing their three-day visit.
The trip, which was at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will include stops at Dublin, County Meath, County Kildare and Galway.
They will meet with Ireland’s president, Michael D Higgins, as well as learning more about Ireland’s conservation initiatives and efforts to protect its environment.

Details on the latest engagement come following the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s one week break during half-term.

The last official Royal visit happened in 2011 when the Queen made a “historic” visit.
Much like this visit, the purpose of the engagement will be to “build on the theme of remembrance and reconciliation”, according to Kensington Palace’s statement.
Both Prince William and Duchess Kate will spend time learning about local organisations working to support and empower young people.
The projects they’ll witness are providing opportunities for young people to develop important life skills.

In addition to this, the visit will focus on Ireland’s conservation initiatives with a particular look at sustainable farming and marine conservation.
A reason for the stop in Galway is likely because 2020 will see Galway host the European Capital of Culture on behalf of Ireland.
Although exact engagement details haven’t been released, Kensington Palace have said that the pair will have the opportunity to “experience a taste of modern and traditional Irish culture for themselves”.
The European Capital of Culture is a showcase of events highlighting the richness and diversity of Irish culture, art and sport.

As well as meeting the President, the statement added some other key people the Duke and Duchess will meet during their trip: “The Taoiseach and senior political leaders, children and young people, and those working in the creative arts, business and charity sectors”.
The pair have had a busy schedule lately. In particular, the Duchess of Cambridge’s appearance on Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby caught worldwide attention.
The trip to Ireland will take place on 3-5 March.
