John Lewis' sell-out ruffle dress is finally backJohn Lewis

When Chemena Kamali single-handedly brought back boho with her AW24 Chloé show, we immediately set about looking for the perfect high-street ruffle dress that channelled the runway's ethereal, Stevie Nicks vibes but wouldn't make our bank balance cry. And we found it, somewhat surprisingly at good old John Lewis. But so did lots of other people, meaning the style in question promptly flew off the rails. Now, it's finally back, but it already has the dreaded 'popular' and 'bestseller' tag blazoned across it online, meaning it won't be back for long...

We're talking, of course, about the universally flattering John Lewis Ruffle Maxi Dress, £65, in the prettiest shade of whimsical peachy pink. With its long fluted sleeves, asymmetric waist and floaty silhouette, it offers major designer vibes for much less, reminding us of several Chloé styles that graced the Paris catwalk back in February (especially the stand-out Look 14, below). If you're after a richer hue, it also comes in burgundy, one of the colours of the season.

Sienna Miller and Daisy Edgar-Jones are just two of the many A-listers who have fully embraced the ruffle dress this year (though admittedly they have been seen in Chloé's pastel-hued delights, and who wouldn't embrace those?). Daisy wore a mini style while promoting her movie Twisters over the summer, while Sienna chose a powder-blue maxi for the Cannes Film Festival back in May.

Ruffle dresses, however, are not just for warm sunny days. This romantic trend translates beautifully into autumn, too – just swap out your sandals for winter-appropriate shoes. We'll be wearing the above John Lewis dress with deep berry knee-high boots because we absolutely adore that colour pairing, but it'd also look cool with stompy biker boots (another key trending shoe this season) for that rocky/feminine balance. Or, why not wear it to a winter wedding with strappy heels and a faux-fur coat thrown nonchalantly over your shoulders?
