As Emma Watson reunites with her pixie cut, her hair evolution through the years
Twelve years ago Emma Watson cut her hair into its first crop. Perhaps out of defiance for having the same hair for so long as one third of the Harry Potter heroes, perhaps she just wanted a change.
Now, the 32-year-old actor has brought back her old pixie cut, with a modern twist.
The Harry Potter star debuted her new ‘do in Prada’s latest fragrance campaign, for which Watson is the new face.
The images released by the Italian fashion house show Watson’s newly shorn hair for the collaboration, with dangling Prada earrings and a dramatic eyeliner moment.

The Prada campaign also marks her directorial debut for the brand.
“Prada has always gone beyond traditional models and archetypes of conceived beauty and is famous for a femininity that challenges conventions,” Watson said in a press release.
“It’s a pleasure to create a campaign and represent a fragrance with such a profound philosophical concept and sustainability initiatives in a way that feels genuinely real and relevant,” she added.

Before she was a household name, Emma Watson was a normal 10-year-old and with it, she had a normal 10-year-old's haircut: natural light brown hair with a straight fringe and her natural curls coming through.
2002
The actor grew out her hair and fringe over the next few years, pushing her fringe to the side and adding a few more layers to her locks.
2004
A fresh trim and some golden highlights came through in 2004, where Watson embraced her curly hair on the red carpet.
2005
The era-appropriate side-swept fringe stuck with Watson for a few years, and became her go-to style.

New hair who is this? After finally finishing the filming for all of the Harry Potter films (where she had to keep her hair more-or-less the same as Hermione's) Watson mixed things up with a fresh pixie cut and darker hue.

She opted for a lighter, more buttery golden hue as she grew out the pixie cut.

The pixie cut reached bob length in 2012, and Watson's hair colour returned to a more natural light brown with golden highlights.

Watson returned to the dark side in 2014, and wore her hair in a dramatic side sweep for the premiere of Noah in Madrid, Spain.
2016
Watson went back to a fringe in 2016, but this time opting for the softer, curtain-style bangs instead of a straight fringe.

Either Watson has some really quick regrowth, or she had some extensions added for the BAFTA awards in 2022, with a neutralising grey toner by the looks of things, too.
2022
Watson went for the chop again in 2022, this time with a modern, soft cut with gradual layers and a bottleneck fringe at the front.
