Davina McCall has quit social media after revealing she's undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour, her boyfriend Michael Douglas has confirmed. Taking to Instagram, the celebrity hairdresser, 48, said that he would keep fans updated as she recovers from the operation.
He wrote: "Hey everyone. Michael here. @davinamccall will be “off grid” for a bit while she recovers from this brain operation. She is in great shape and in very good hands. I’ll I do the odd update from her account here for anyone interested. I’m sure she’ll read all the comments when she’s able to so feel free to send love. The support of people is amazingly powerful. Have a great day everyone. Michael xxx."
In a video, TV presenter Davina, 57, announced that a 14mm benign brain tumour was recently discovered during a health scan. She explained: "A few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was gonna ace, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst which is very rare. Three in a million. So I slightly put my head in the sand.

"I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions and I realised that I have to get it taken out. It's big for the space. It fills the space. It's 14mm wide and it needs to come out, because if it grows, it would be bad. So I'm having it removed via a craniotomy."
Davina continued: "They go through the top of my head here and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, and get the cyst, take it out, empty it, take it out and Bob's your uncle," before adding: "So say a prayer for me. I am in good spirits."
She then introduced Michael to the camera, assuring fans that he's "got her back". In a light-hearted moment, he quipped that he had offered to perform the surgery himself, which sent Davina into fits of laughter. She then revealed that she'll be staying in the hospital for about nine days post-surgery.
Davina and Michael have been dating since 2019, following her split from husband Matthew Robertson in 2017. The former couple are parents to three children, Holly, 23, Tilly, 21, and Chester, 18.
While they keep their relationship fairly private, Davina paid tribute to Michael at the National Television Awards in September. As she was honoured with the Special Recognition Award for her contributions to the television industry, she said that he had made her "a better person".
