It’s also a fraction of the price.

Replicating your favorite restaurant food at home can sometimes save you both time and money. And who doesn’t want to save a bit of money these days? Here at Allrecipes, we have no shortage of copycat recipes of some of our favorite fast food items, such as Crunchwrap Supremes, Starbucks Lemon Loaf, and even a Wendy’s Frosty.

Then there are the countless supermarket copycats. From the Aldi hashbrowns that are virtually identical to McDonald’s to Costco's ready-to-heat version of Starbucks’ warm Ham & Swiss Croissants, these heat-and-eat foods all cost less than what their counterparts cost at their respective restaurants.

Now, those who love a good Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich can find a copycat version of its Spicy Chicken Sandwich at Costco, too.

Costco’s Cluckin’ Tasty Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Chick-fil-A’s spicy sandwich is quite simple. It’s a breaded chicken breast seasoned with spicy peppers on a buttered bun with pickles. It costs about $5.75. Costco is now offering a 6-pack of Cluckin’ Tasty Spicy Chicken Sandwiches that—much like its Chick-fil-A counterpart—contain breaded, marinated chicken breasts and Hawaiian buns, which you can heat in a microwave or air fryer. Using an air fryer will certainly get the sandwich closer to the restaurant version, as will adding pickles after it's cooked.

The 6-pack is $16.99, or about $2.83 a sandwich. If you’re feeding a whole family, that can make quite the difference.

According to the @Costcohotfinds Instagram account, the sandwiches have “a very mild spice level and are delicious!” Commenters raved, “These things are freaking amazing” and “This is awesome and so convenient!”

But not everyone was impressed. Comments about the chicken looking so dry it’s a “choking hazard” and looking worse than a “McChicken” were plentiful, too.

How does it taste? According to Reddit, it’s a “cheap version of the Chick-fil-A spicy chicken sandwich minus the lettuce and tomatoes.” For the record, the Chick-fil-A sandwich actually doesn't come with lettuce and tomatoes. They are add-ons for an additional price.

That’s the thing about copycats. They rarely look or taste exactly like the original—though they are often close. So, if you’re looking to scratch your Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich itch without leaving the house, or paying extra for delivery, try giving this Costco version a chance. Just make sure to have your own pickles on hand.
