Colin Farrell and his 13-year-old son turned the 2023 Oscars red carpet into a family affair
Colin Farrell, Paul Mescal, Salma Hayek and Jennifer Connelly all brought family members to the Oscars last night
Colin Farrell, Paul Mescal, Jennifer Connelly and Salma Hayek were just some of the famous faces to grace the 2023 Oscars red carpet with a family member as their plus-one.
Best Actor nominee Farrell brought his 13-year-old son Henry along to the big night. The dapper father-and-son duo dressed in matching tuxedos, with The Banshees of Inisherin star accessorising his black tux with a pin of Ireland’s flag.

Farrell had previously revealed that Henry, his youngest son whom he shares with former girlfriend Alicja Bachleda-Curús, was with him when his nomination for Best Actor was announced.
“I knew that Henry, my youngest, was going to be with me [when the nominations were announced],” the 46-year-old told Sunday World. “I said to Henry, ‘Do you want me to wake you up?' [to hear the nominations] and he was like, ‘Duh — what do you think, Dad? Of course I want you to wake me up!’”
Fellow Irish nominee for Best Actor, Paul Mescal, 27, also made Hollywood’s night of nights a family affair, taking his mum Dearbhla as his guest.
It was the second time that Dearbhla had accompanied her son to an awards ceremony, after she also attended the BAFTAs with him in May.

“These past few days feel like I was in a movie... my heart is just so very grateful,” Dearbhla, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for a type of bone marrow cancer, told The Mirror. “What an amazing, amazing gift this was to be part of this incredible, crazy ride.”
Mescal had previously revealed that his nomination was “overwhelming” for his family as they found out that he was nominated on the same day that Dearbhla started chemotherapy.
“The universe works in very interesting ways,” he told BBC Radio 4 in February. “There is stuff going on at home that is difficult. [This nomination] has given my family a very welcome respite and [that’s] something that I never thought that my job, as something that I love very dearly, could do.”

Andie MacDowell, Salma Hayek and Jennifer Connelly were among other stars to bring family members to the Oscars red carpet.
Four Weddings and a Funeral star MacDowell, 64, brought along her daughter Rainey Qualley, 33, as her guest, while Hayek, 56, also attended the event with her 15-year-old daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault.
Both mother-daughter duos matched their outfits with one another, with MacDowell and Qualley both wearing black gowns, while Hayel and Pinault both wore striking red gowns with chrome-hued bags.
Pedro Pascal, the 47-year-old star of The Last of Us, was joined by his sister, Javiera Balmaceda. His sibling was in fact a guest in her own right as Balmaceda works for Amazon Studios and the company's film Argentina, 1985, was nominated for best international feature.
Pascal played a key part on the night too, as he also presented an award during the ceremony alongside Wandavision actor Elizabeth Olsen.
Top Gun: Maverick star, Connelly, 52, made the event into a mother-son activity by bringing along her son Stellan Connelly Bettany, 19, whom she shares with husband Paul Bettany.
Connelly and Bettany, who married in 2003, also share a 12-year-old daughter called Agnes, and Bettany helped raise Connelly’s son, Kai Dugan, 25, from a previous relationship.
