Meghan Markle talks Prince Harry relationship in interview as engagement rumours swirl

Buckingham Palace is preparing to announce the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to The Mail on Sunday.

The high-profile couple have been together for over a year and are set to make their public debut at the Invictus Games in Toronto later this month.

The star of US legal drama ‘Suits’ first met Prince Harry through mutual friends last July and has already made a good impression with her potential in-laws, Prince Charles and Camilla.

‘Operation Princess’ has reportedly kickstarted with Kensington Palace taking the time to reduce Meghan’s publicity commitments.

Senior royal officials are supposedly unhappy with her recent Vanity Fair interview in which Meghan opened up about her relationship for the very first time.

‘We’re a couple. We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time,” she said.

“This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”

But the actress is set to give one more major interview as part of her TV contract.

A new home in Kensington Palace may also await the royal couple. When Meghan visits, the pair currently stay in Nottingham Cottage: a quaint two-bedroom house in the palace grounds.

Apartment 9 – close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – is set to be opening up as a new residence, marking Harry and Meghan’s potential new home.

After their romantic holiday in Botswana last month, Harry and Meghan are expected to spend more time in London together.

It’s thought that the pair wanted to announce their engagement earlier but didn’t want the news to overshadow the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death.

Meghan is still yet to meet the Queen, although royal protocol dictates that this is only likely to happen after the official engagement announcement.
