1. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood | 10 September 2019

This sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale answers the questions we’ve been waiting decades for (that’s right, the bestselling dystopian novel first came out in 1985).

The wait is over to find out what happened to Offred. Margaret Atwood neatly answers all of the questions we’ve been dying to ask for the past 23 years, with a nod to the current world we live in thrown in for excellent measure.

2. The Institute by Stephen King | 10 September 2019

Stephen King has produced another literary hit, which offers up some subtle similarities to Carrie and The Shining. Namely, it centres around a teenager with special powers.

This suspenseful novel sees children from around America abducted because of their special gifts - think telepathy and telekinesis. It follows the story of 12-year-old Luke Ellis, The Institute’s latest recruit.

This book has a Stranger Things vibe to it. It’s no secret Stranger Things owes a lot to Stephen King’s work and we all know he’s a fan, so the link is unsurprising.

3. Postscript by Cecelia Ahern | 19 September 2019

It has been 15 years since Cecelia Ahern’s P.S I Love You emotionally scarred us for life.

And, it’s 12 years since Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler’s portrayal of Holly and Gerry left us crying for a solid hour and a half.

4. Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks | 5 September 2019

You will not be able to put this book down. Like Adele Parks’ recent hit, I Invited Her In, there’s something addictive about her writing which shines through as early as the first chapter.

This domestic thriller followers the marriage and secrets of Daisy and Simon, a seemingly perfect couple.

5. The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates | 24 September 2019

Ta-Nehisi Coates isn’t afraid to highlight the atrocities of humanity. His National Book Award-winning novel, Between The World And Me tackles America’s fraught racial history, whilst The Water Dancer delves into American slavery.

Interestingly, he wrote this book in its earliest form back in 2009 (before Between The World And Me). We’re pleased to see it has surfaced 10 years later to serve as a poignant reminder of America’s past.

It follows Hiram Walker as he attempts to escape from slavery - the only world he has ever known.

6. Black Nowhere by Reece Hirsch | 1 September 2019

There’s something great about being embroiled in a book series from the start. This fantastic series launch will form part of the Lisa Tanchik series, an FBI agent tasked with taking down cybercriminals.

Her job is to take down Nate Fallon, a Stanford student who started using the dark web as an experiment of sorts. He quickly becomes entangled in illegal activity.

Hirsch is the writer behind The Insider, a 2011 International Thriller Writers Award finalist, which draws on his experience as an attorney. We’re expecting good things.

7. Frankly In Love by David Yoon | 12 September 2019

This book tells the tale of a Korean high-school senior living in Southern California. His parents will only let him date Korean girls, which is highly inconvenient seeing as he is in love with Brit Means.

This book has To All The Boys I Loved Before vibes about it, from the setting to the storyline.

It’s aimed at a young adult audience, but similarly to TATBILB there’s something about it which will appeal to everyone.

8. The Dutch House by Ann Patchett | 24 September 2019

If you’ve read Bel Canto by the this number one New York Times Bestselling author, you’ll know what we mean when we say that Ann Patchett has a unique ability to inject humour into the most unlikely of topics.

The Dutch House is no exception.

It’s a dark post-WWII fairytale centred around The Dutch House, a mansion in the suburbs of Philadelphia. The house, which was meant to be a nice place to live by all accounts, begins to unravel everybody in it.

9. American Royals by Katharine McGee | 5 September 2019

This book speaks to everything we love in a holiday read. It’s Crazy Rich Asians meets Gossip Girl. It’s easy-reading, but the quality of writing from Katharine McGee is sublime as well.

The Washingtons are America’s Royal Family. They’re scandalous and rich, the ultimate combination for a book of this kind.

If you find yourself binge watching Gossip Girl, this addictive new modern fairytale is just up your street.

10. Well Met by Jen DeLuca | 5 September 2019

Next up is another wonderful holiday read. This one’s from debut author, Jen DeLuca.

Feeding your enjoyment on the enemies to lovers plot that so many romance novels follow. This one comes with a twist, though, because it’s primarily set at a Renaissance Faire in Willow Creek, Maryland.

Emily relocates to Willow Creek, which she sees as somewhat of a pitstop on her way to somewhere else, but when she meets Simon, the irritating teacher involved in the Renaissance Faire she’s volunteering for, that all changes.

11. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower 20th Anniversary Edition by Stephen Chbosky | 24 September 2019

There’s a real joy in collecting the special edition copies of our favourite books. To that end, we wanted to alert you to the 20th anniversary edition of The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
